Leaving No-One Behind: African perspectives

Side Event at the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

As a global community we have committed to achieving an ambitious agenda for sustainable development by 2030 and we have promised that we will leave no one behind in doing so. Our greatest challenge is to achieve sustainable development for everyone, everywhere, for all countries and for all groups, particularly the most vulnerable in our societies.

On behalf of the Government of Malawi as the Co-Chairs of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation (GPEDC) and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Planning and Coordinating Agency we invite you to Save the Date for an important discussion of African perspectives on ensuring that no one is left behind.

This high-level side-event will offer African perspectives on who is at most risk of being left behind in Sub-Saharan Africa, showcase action being taken to address the challenge of leaving no-one behind and agree ways in which all actors can work together to achieve sustainable development for everyone, everywhere.

Inputs are expected from the African Union, UNDP, the OECD, Overseas Development Institute (ODI), and an exchange of views between African leaders and their development partners. The event will draw perspectives from a range of high-level participants from governments, multilateral and international organisations, research institutions, civil society organisations, businesses and foundations.

Please RSVP to Ms. Sophia Wang at rufei.wang@undp.org by Thursday, 14 July. For those in need of a UN grounds pass please note this in your email to Ms. Wang.
